SCA

« Back to Glossary Index

SCA stands for Systems Community Alliance – an idea to bring together individuals and organisations (the Community), who are interested in working together (in a semi-formal Alliance), to help develop infrastructure capabilities based on a Systems view of reality.

Current SCA Objective/s

The SCA is being launched in 2023, as a vehicle to deliver certain benefits to the Systems Community, namely:

  1. A central repository for Systems Knowledge. This has developed into the SCA Community Services Infrastructure programme.
  2. An SCA organization to support current and future SCA Community Services.

The Collections initiative has been chosen as an initial, proof-of-concept service, to evaluate the long term interest, viability and strategy of the SCA as an organization. This proof-of-concept will be reviewed after a year. to determine next steps.

The SCA organization identity, architecture and operations are being developed to support the rollout and operation of current services, and to be scalable for the potential rollout of additional future services.

Longer term SCA Objectives

Next steps will depend on several factors, including:

  • The progress and success of Services which have been rolled out.
  • The resources available (paid for, or volunteer).
  • What Services are proving useful to the Community.
  • Dependencies between Services.

    • Registers
    • A network of Knowledge custodians in the community
    • Repository
    • Project support
    • News and events
    • Technical help
    • Custodianship
